Thrifted Jewels

We thrifted the cutest dresses, brand new with the tags still on. We bought them at a Goodwill Clearance Center, where you pay by the weight.  They are so light weight that they probably cost us around a dollar each. A bunch of these dresses were donated to Goodwill by Target. We each got a different color. Since the dress came in these beautiful jewel tones we decided to keep with that theme and style them with jewel tone accessories. We love the drawstring high waist and the pockets. Who doesn't love a dress with pockets?! (Warning: tons of picture below)

Five Favorite: 2012 Spring Fashions

I don't closely follow the fashion trends. I've always just worn whatever I was into at the moment. It happens that sometimes I'm into the current trends. I am not sure what the "official" trends are, but here are 5 things I will be wearing this Spring.

1.) MAXI SKIRTSI like pairing bright colored maxi skirts with equally bright colored tops for an easy breezy effortless look. Adding accessories like a fun printed scarf and a neutral belt polishes off the look. I styled the first look with flat sandals, but a chunky platform sandal or wedge espadrilles will look great too. I also like printed maxi skirts w/ solid color shirts and vice versa.

2.) TRIBAL/ETHNIC I love love love tribal and ethnic inspired fashions from skirts, to shoes, to jewelry! I have been on a serious hunt for all things tribal! Tribal prints with big bold jewelry creates such an edgy and fashion forward look.

3.) NAUTICAL/BOAT WEAR: Nautical inspired styles always look great during Spring. It's so classic and American.

4.) COLORED & PRINTED JEANS: I am loving bright colored skinny jeans. You can find them in almost in color imaginable. I'm also seeing more skinny jeans in cute prints. You can really play around this look by adding prints and bright tops.

5.) CITRUS COLORS: I really want to step out of my comfort zone and start wearing more bright "citrus"colors this Spring. By citrus I mean oranges, tangerines, lemons, limes, grapefruit, etc. These colors are so sunny and happy.
Hope you enjoyed!

Stripes = Neutral

This is the time of the a year when I start sneaking my Spring clothing and accessories into my daily outfits. I'm growing tired of wearing blacks, earth tones, boots, sweaters, coats, etc. I'm starting to gravitate more towards brights and pastels. This outfit of the day is a great example of how to add the inspiration of Spring into your end of Winter wardrobe. I love treating my black & white striped pieces as neutrals, then building a look from there. Just like neutrals black & white stripes go with just about any color and many different patterns too! I added a bright colored belt, shoes and geometric patterned scarf. I toned it down with opaque black tights, to keep it season/weather appropriate. Warning: This is a picture heavy post.
